WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

Rwanda is a small mountainous country covered with mysterious forests that seem to be embraced by the clouds. It is a beautiful, ethereal sight to behold and it has a deep-seated impact on all who travel here.

Rwanda’s genocide certainly put it on peoples radars, but what has made this country truly  inspirational is how Rwanda and its peoples have grown from their devastating past and flourished into a thriving and dynamic country that its taking the tourist industry by storm and leading the way for other countries to follow.

Noted on Conde Nast Best Places to Go in 2020, the genuine warmth of its peoples, the country’s conservation efforts and high tourism standard have all added to the enticing nature of the country.

Gorilla trekking is the leading reason for travelers embarking on a journey to this remarkable country. The gentle giants found in Rwanda are some of the world’s last remaining Mountain Gorillas. Here, at Volcanoes National Park, set in the active volcanic chain of the Virungas,  is where Dian Fossey worked to protect and establish the protection of these endangered Great Apes.  Trek and spend time in the presence of your assigned Gorilla family; an hour deemed as one of the most holistic and emotionally moving  experiences ever.

Other areas of interest, scenically and from a wildlife perspective are Lake Kivu, Akagera National Park and Nyungwe National Park, as well as tea plantations.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO RWANDA?

The majority of Rwanda’s visitors come to see its Mountain Gorillas. Gorilla trekking permits are high in demand and can have an impact on your travel dates. Like many countries, Rwanda has a dry and rainy season but can be said to be an all year travel destination. Rwanda’s peak season falls during its dry season, which means that the Gorilla trekking permits and accommodation prices are at its highest. As rain can fall throughout the year, many travelers prefer to visit just outside of Rwanda’s peak season as permits and accommodations are more easily available and less expensive. The light rain can have a wonderful visual effect to the landscape and your gorilla interactions, especially from a photographic perspective. Being on the Equator, temperatures are stable throughout the year.
